Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new accessories. They can also increase the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Usually items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot from enemies, or received from missions and chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are jewels that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same benefits as jewels, however they cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the item's name. For instance, adding the suffix Glyph will transform a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If an individual upgrades a gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing item upgrading can destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in some fundamental ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a set number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level however, the materials needed aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a specific few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
Once an item has been finished being leveled, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will boost its attributes. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade process will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and costs the same amount of materials but will result in a lower chance of success.
Engineers will use a level in order to compare the height of the building against an established location, such as an existing benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with a high degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically increase the strength of an item, damage, or other characteristics. This can be accomplished through the menu for items or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be used sparingly.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.
In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the higher your chances of receiving the bonus of a different kind.
The game also has a number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an unit. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a character without spending lots of money.
Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can give players a faster path to a powerful character and allows them to climb higher levels and progress in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can have various dimensions, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They are useful for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways such as size and shape.
There are a range of set items available to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Sets of armor that offer high defense values or set bonuses are usually worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already huge.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique tools that are suitable for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into parity with their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower level items can improve their defense, and improve their performance when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
Generally speaking, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant increase in their performance. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase as it goes from purple to gold.
